How to check?

In modern electronics with computer microcircuits, system bypasses for the "admin" are laid. This is a set of actions that starts the mode of displaying error codes in the on-board computer by flashing lamps. To see the error codes Opel, without resorting to paid reading services using devices, use such a bypass system. Manipulation schemes are very simple, but different for vehicles with different gearboxes.

How to decrypt correctly?

As a result of self-diagnosis, a malfunction code will appear on the dashboard screen, indicated by a letter and several numbers or just a set of numbers. The inscription ECN and any other numerical combination, except for zeros alone, indicates the presence of errors and problems in the operation of the car.

In five-digit codes, the Latin letter comes first:

“B” - a problem with the body;

“C” - chassis problems;

“U” - indicates a malfunction with the inter-unit data bus;

"P" - indicates a problem with the engine and gearbox. This letter is also present when the computer issues a 4-digit numeric code.

Next is the numerical combination, where the first digit after the letter:

0 - designation common to all OBD-II codes;

1 and / or 2 - manufacturer code;

3 - backup code.

The second digit of the five-digit error code in the Opel shows the type of problem, and the last two are the number of the specific malfunction within the same type. An example of such a frequently appearing code is P0170, which stands for “improperly balanced mixture composition”. If this error is detected, it is recommended to clean the nozzles, throttle, and also the intake manifold EGR valve and its channels as a solution. They are clogged with soot on average over 50-80 thousand kilometers.
